Overview

Safe Koori Kids is a study being undertaken by The George Institute for International Health and the University of Wollongong in collaboration with Yooroang Garang: School of Indigenous Health Studies, at the University of Sydney.

The study aims to increase our understanding of the factors involved in injury in Indigenous communities.

Injury is one of the leading causes of Indigenous mortality in Australia, but little is known about the impact that it has on Indigenous children and youth - particularly those living in urban areas.

The results of the research will be used to develop culturally acceptable and effective intervention strategies targeting children and youth.

The study will be undertaken in Campbelltown between 2006 and 2008.
