Klara Henderson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney, majoring in Political Science, and subsequently completed a Master of Commerce degree. She has a PhD in international health policy from the University of Sydney, in which she examined the development of HIV policy in East Timor to assess the impact of donor funding on policy outcomes. Prior to this she worked at Accenture for eight years, focussing on strategic and policy projects with Australian public sector clients. In 1998 Klara began work as a Strategic Development Project Manager at the Australian Trade Commission where she conducted pricing reviews and developed organisation-wide key performance indicators. In 2002 Klara worked in East Africa on HIV/AIDS projects, including conducting a needs assessment for HIV interventions in Uganda’s border regions. In 2005 as a consultant to AusAID she assessed the economic impact of HIV/AIDS in East Timor, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. She has also undertaken consulting work for UNDP Asia-Pacific and developed a needs assessment user guide to cost national government HIV/AIDS strategic plans across the Asia Pacific region. Klara joined the Health Policy Division in July 2007 as a Policy Analyst.
