Javier Guzman trained as a physician, working for several years in planning and implementation of primary health care projects in Colombia. Javier moved to the UK in 2002, where he worked as a Post Graduate Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics at the Royal London Hospital. In 2004, he joined the Pharmaceutical Research Policy Project at the London School of Economics and in 2006 moved to Australia as part of the relocation of the unit to The George Institute for International Health where it was consolidated as the Health Policy Division (HPD).

Javier has worked on key projects in the area of product development for neglected diseases, including the new landscape of neglected diseases, the malaria product development pipeline and G-FINDER. Javier is the HPD’s Director of Research and is now based in London. He has an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the LSE and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is currently doing his MBA-Executive at the Australian Graduate School of Management, Sydney. Javier is an Honorary Lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Sydney.
